The handles make the bag look so elegant!  This is a great bag - simple and fun to knit…you can easily complete one in a day.  Great gift idea! 

Finished size:  Approximately 12” wide, 12” tall (not including handles).

Materials Needed:  Approximately 150 yds. cherry and 180 yds. black (or whatever colors you choose), size 10.5 24” circular needles, 1 marker, a large eyed sewing needle and a set of suede handles, purchased at your local yarn shop.

Yarn Suggestions:  Yarn used is “Lanaloft” by Brown Sheep Company (160 yd. skeins), in colors LL12W Cheery Cherry and LL03W Black Bear. You will need (1) skein of Cherry and (2) skeins of Black. This new yarn by BSC has the same feel as their Lambs Pride, but does not felt up “hairy”.  It is a wonderful, soft, easy-on-the-hands wool.

This bag will hold everything you need and more!  The side pockets are deep enough for knitting needles, a cell phone, wallet and keys.  The bag itself has ample room for patterns, yarn, books, and your computer.  It’s sturdy and the short handles enable you to carry everything easily without having to sling it over your shoulders….much better for your back!!

Materials Needed:  Approximately 900 yards of 100% worsted weight wool, size 10.5 - 36” circular needles, 3 stitch holders, 5 markers, 4 row markers (circular open-ended markers or safety pins, etc.) and a large eyed sewing needle. 

Yarn Suggestions: Yarn used is “Lanaloft” by Brown Sheep Company, in color #LL92W Turquoise Magic. This is a monochromatic yarn which gives the design a multi-colored look.  Beautiful! Any 100% wool worsted weight yarn may be used, but please do a swatch, felt it and be sure you like the effect before starting the bag.  Some yarns are extremely “hairy” after felting.  This yarn has a smooth, wonderful look after felting.

This is a great pattern for variegated yarns.  I used “Kureyon”, color #92, by Noro.  The brighter the colors, the more vibrant it will be!  Of course, this handbag can be done in a solid color as well or 3 different solids!  At the bottom of the second page, you will see what it looks like before it is sewn together.   Knit on!!

This pattern was designed as a way to make an otherwise “unsturdy” bag, more substantial. Shelley came up with the idea of a bag within a ba2….who wouldn’t want two handbags in one?  Very crafty!This bag is as versatile as they come….use two different colors…maybe black on one side and pink on the other.  Or, stripes in pink, green and black, with black or green on the other side.  The combinations are endless, so have fun and reveal your creative inner-self!

Approximately 440 yards of 100% worsted weight wool, holding 2 strands together throughout the bag, with the exception of the handle and ruffle, which is knit using 1 strand.  Using 1 strand gave the ruffle more flexibility and the handles a more feminine looking i-cord.  I used the entire 2 skeins and achieved the length of strap that I desired….if a longer strap were wanted, you would need a 3rd skein. Also needed:  size 13 or 15 - 24" length circular needles and 2 markers (preferably different colors).  Approx finished size: 10.5” wide x 9” tall. Flap:  7" tall, 8.5" wide, includes ruffle.  Strap:  21"
